 There that all claim to be the best for sending emails — but how do you know which one is right for you? 

Then there’s content: Should every email have a unique subject line? How often should I send them out?

Use the right software.

The first thing you need to do is set up a mailing list. If you are using a blog that gets a lot of traffic and subscribers. 

It is important to have an email marketing system in place. So that you can manage your list and send out emails regularly.

If you are on a budget or just starting out, there are several free services available that will allow you to create an opt-in form.

where readers can sign up for updates from your blog or website. MailChimp and Aweber are two of the most popular ones out there today.

Both offer basic plans that allow users access to their software. As well as unlimited email-sending capabilities (with restrictions). 

For example: if someone signs up via one of these forms on my site. But don’t give me permission yet (they haven’t clicked “yes”). 

I am able still to send them emails about new posts as long as those posts contain links back here!

Start building your list.

The first step to building your email list is to offer something that people want. If you don’t have anything to offer, they won’t sign up. 

You can start with a freebie or something else that’s valuable. But make sure it’s relevant to your blog topic.

Once you’ve got something worth sharing with them, the next step is getting people on board by offering an incentive for signing up (like access to a freebie). And making it easy for them to do so (by having one-click signup).

 This can be anything from increasing sales. Improving brand awareness and increasing traffic or subscribers.

Once you have defined your goals for the campaign then it is time to think about what kind of content should be sent out in order for them to achieve these goals.

Get a handle on subject lines.

Your subject line is the first thing people see, so make it count. 

Here’s what you should keep in mind when crafting your next email:

  • Make sure the subject line is relevant to the content of your email and not just an attention-grabbing statement or question. If you don’t have anything interesting to say, why would anyone open up your message?
  • Keep it short and catchy. People are busy. They don’t have time to read long messages with lots of different points (unless they’re really interested). Aim for two sentences max at most; shorter is always better!
  • Don’t use jargon or industry terms that aren’t familiar or understandable. By non-experts like yourself unless those readers are specifically looking for that type of information from YOU specifically. Because YOU’RE AN EXPERT IN THIS FIELD AND HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD BE THEIR GO-TO PERSON. FOR THAT TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE WHEN THEY NEED IT FOREVERMORE!!!

Compose emails that actually get read.

Now that you’ve got a solid list of subscribers and are sending regular emails.  It’s time to make sure those emails get read.

Here are some tips for composing emails that actually get read:

  • Use short sentences and paragraphs. It’s easier on the reader’s eyes. So they’re more likely to keep reading!
  • Use bullet points to break up the text. This also helps make it easier for people who skim through their inboxes quickly (like me). Plus, if there’s something in your email that needs emphasis or bolding. Like an offer, you can highlight it by using *asterisks*.
  • Italicize key points within your message whenever possible so they stand out from the rest of your copy without being distracting or noisy (like this sentence).

And if all else fails… You know what? Just send another email! You might have gotten one person who didn’t open up.

This is one of the easiest ways for you to build an audience for your blog. And it’s also why I recommend including links at least once per email.
  • If possible, include links in other places as well: In the signature block at the bottom of every email; or in a footer. That appears at the end of each message (and can be customized by inserting it into HTML code or adding it through Gmail settings).

Consider running a contest to build up your email list.

A contest is an excellent way to build your email list and get people interested in what you’re doing. 

You can give away a prize that’s relevant to your blog. Like a gift card or product from one of the companies mentioned above (like MailChimp).

You can also run a contest on social media, which will help grow your audience on other platforms as well. 

If possible, make sure that people who enter the contest are required to sign up for something–like an email newsletter or mailing list in order to participate.

The best tool I’ve found for running contests is Rafflecopter because it has everything needed for running an effective giveaway: easy entry forms.

 Social sharing buttons; ability to track entries; customizable templates; automatic winner notification emails sent out. When someone wins (this feature alone saves so much time!). 

It also has some nice analytics tools so you’ll know exactly how many entries came through each channel (email vs Facebook vs Twitter) etc., which helps with future planning too!
